Prayers needed for Wilma Grandez in Peru

“Mom, can we pray for this man now? He is dying.”

A police officer in Peru was thrown out of his home because he was infected with coronavirus. He was laying in a park in pain, and Rebecca Grandez was called to take him to a hospital. Because of overcrowded hospitals, people are dying on the streets. Rebecca called Wilma and said, “Mom, can we pray for this man now? He is dying.” Wilma and Rebecca prayed that God would help them find a hospital - and by 11 pm, the Lord provided! A few days later, Wilma learned that the police officer was in a stable condition.

Wilma Grandez is one of our partners in Peru, serving her community selflessly. Her daughter Rebecca works for the government’s health administration and is working 24/7 through this crisis. We spoke with her last week during a prayer meeting with our partners. Stories like these are an encouragement to us and our partners, and a reminder to keep praying!

Wilma continues to serve in every way she can. She has several WhatsApp groups to encourage her church, the women who serve in the community, and mothers of the school’s children. Wilma prays with them daily, and many call with updates.

“The children and moms from the school are desperate, and all I can do is pray and tell them to keep trusting the Lord,” Wilma said.

She asked that we pray for strength for her as she continues to encourage the women.

She and her family are trying to supply families with their needs as much as they can, but they need prayers for protection as her husband delivers the provisions.

Even in the face of incredible hardship and challenge, Wilma reminded us that “we trust the Lord to sustain us!”
