We made a mistake.

We thought we set a God-sized goal for our Come to the Table – Fight Against Hunger.

We calculated the amount to support our partners for the next three months as they continued to feed their communities. That number became our goal.

And now, thanks to your generosity, we have met that original goal!

But about halfway through, we realized that our goal of $35,000 was not God-sized, and it was solely focused on immediate aid for our partners. What amount would require complete trust in God and faith in the Holy Spirit moving?

We spoke with our partners and began to dream and plan for bigger things. Now we see that the vast impact of the pandemic on their communities will last much longer than the next three months, and the increased need for food with continue. But what can we do to sustainably empower our partners for the future when it comes to hunger and food? 

We now have plans with our partners in South and Central America to begin sustainable gardens and farming. GO staff are working on a plan with our Nepali partner to open a bakery that will not only support his ministry but will be a local source of food.

 We are not only focusing on feeding; discipleship is now the priority. We need to set a bigger table for more disciples!

Wilma Grandez, one of our partners in Peru, sets an example for this model. Instead of becoming overwhelmed by the needs in her community, she found community leaders and began to meet weekly with them. She disciples these leaders, and they share the Gospel with their communities. They also identified the most impoverished in their communities, allowing Wilma to help those who need it most. The GO staff and other pastors and teachers are training our international partners to use this discipleship model.

Funding from this Come to the Table campaign will go towards these long-term projects and will allow new plans to unfold that weren’t previously possible!

From these conversations, we have set a new goal for the Come to the Table campaign: $300,000.

This new goal reflects GO’s God-sized dream to feed the hungry in Peru, Honduras, India, Nepal, Nicaragua, and across the world through sustainable partnerships over the next three years. And we trust in Him!
