Trip Leader: Dr. Larry Frick/Larry Montgomery/Dr. Chad Wallace

Dates: July 29th – August 8th, 2017

Cost: $1520 plus airfare (estimated at $1300)

Project: We will provide medical care to unreached indigenous peoples in the Amazon region of Peru who don’t have access to care. The medical team will provide outpatient medical and dental care, medications, eye-glasses and minor procedures. We will also be providing evangelism and community health education.

Personnel Needs: Physicians, PAs/NPs, dentists, nurses, dental assistants, pharmacists. Non-medical people are also welcome and will be able to assist professionals in the clinic and help with logistics, patient flow, evangelism and health education. There is also need for Spanish speakers to help. Participants need to be able to tolerate the three-hour hike to reach the village and the primitive living conditions.

Location: The team will fly to Lima and overnight there. Then we will travel within Peru by air to Tarapoto where we will have a day to prepare for our remote village outreach. From there we will travel by bus, river-boat and a three-hour hike to Charapillo. We will visit other villages on the way as well. There are no hotels in the villages. The living conditions in the villages will be quite primitive and we will as we will be sleeping on the floor or in hammocks and bathing in the river. We will return via Tarapoto to Lima the day before our flight home.
